PLAYING WITH PEOPLE
I got this crazy idea of making a progressive image, from the totally empty scene and the add more and more action until the frame is full of action.
I choose one of the new metro stations and set up my tripod and the Leica M10 with a Tri-Elmar 16-18-21.
The tripod was my Gitzo Traveller and I used the Visoflex Viewfinder.
After trying different angles I decided to shoot this one.
I never got an empty image, so I had to make one first and the build the action uppon that one.
Note, pr. june 2020
This was made before the outbreak of corona virus, and the following empty streets all over the world.
NEW PROJECT - THE UNFOLDING OF A RESTLESS SOUL
I just started working on a new project, which roots in my childhood and upbringing in the northwest corner of Denmark.
I was welcomed back by a hurricane and heavy rains and ended up soaked, cold and tired, but also happy about being back.
Mum of course waited with coffee, buns and dinner.
More to follow.
THE END OF THE PROF. PHOTOGRAPHER or
HURRAY FOR IPHONE 11
Imagine the life of a fashion photographer 15 years ago.
You were the king (or queen) of the show and at the end of the catwalk you and your heavy camera+flash+tripod decided the decisive moment, when model+dress+walk just went into an unearthly state of beauty and everybody wanted your work for their publication or blog or whatever.
Then came the iphone, everybody made a badly lit, poor iso performance crappy picture and still everybody wanted your masterpieces.
Then came Iphone after Iphone on the market and the demand for your work slowly disappeared and your heavy camera went obsolete step by step.
Your high wage didn't cover new equipment and your old gear suddenly were beaten in quality, at least for the internet by the Iphone 7, 8, X, 10 and 11.
And the editors stopped ringing, and so did the journalists, because they also lost their jobs to new technologi, blog, instagram, facebook, snapchat and what have you.
And suddenly the kids had it for themselves, blogging, snapping, tweeting and having fun and you finally had time for shooting for your own sake, finally, silence ..
SHOOTING CONDITIONS
Sometimes when travelling, it can be hard to overcome bad weather. You can be stuck in the hotel or the car because of rain or the light just don't wan't to be like you dream of.
Of course there will be a percentage of the time, where you are locked down because of weather, but lucily to me, I like to work in bad conditions, people act differently, things look different, you have everything to yourself and so on and so on.
This picture is from a roadtrip in Rumania, in Cluj Napoca. Everything had been wet for days and when I visited people in the countryside it was muddy and cold.
I took a day in the city, near the trainstation and just walked in the foggy and cold morning.
With a Canon 35mm/1.4L the bad light was kind of looking better because of the nice contrast in the lens.
I found the colors of the fence interesting and the small houses in the back was nicely blured out by the use of 1.4
Today I really like this picture because of the separation between for- and background with very subtle colors.
HUMAN IMPACT
Did you ever think that we are too small to make an impact on mother Nature, then check this true story out.
I was driving in my convertible (now sold) and at a red light wondered what kind of noise that came from above.
I looked up and saw a man, high up on a chimney, with a sander, removing old paint. He is hidden behind the construction on the picture.
The work created a visible dust cloud, drafting upwards.
I, of course, snapped a picture, just for the possibility that it could become handy to me.
90 minuttes later I looked out my window, and now a big, circling cloud had formed it self, almost out of the blue air, circling around the same chimney, very dramatic looking.
1 hour later a massive rain caused severe flooding in the center of Nørrebro, in the outskirts of Copenhagen.
Just a chimney being sanded.
